The Executive Innovation Fellow (
EIF
) will support the Director of Innovation at the Innovation Lab, Honors College at Rutgers University (NB), and be part of the Executive Team (ET) to serve the following role and responsibilities and provide the following Strategic Scope and Tactical Framework:
Strategic Scope:
Bring increased and complementary resources of real-world practical experience to the Innovation Lab Program and expanding initiatives at the Honors College. They will help advance the learning experience as well as progress of teams as they pursue their ideas and social innovation ventures.
Scale the Innovation Lab and Honors College Programs as the most dynamic, practical, and results-oriented program in the region where ultimately, we can see various aspects of social innovation getting launched in the real-world that are Incubated and accelerated by the Innovation Lab @ The Honors College - Rutgers New Brunswick.
Tactical Framework:
Provide supplemental expert feedback, advice and mentorship to venture teams based on industry experiences, including specialized technical, financial, operating, and governance perspectives;
Strengthen and enhance the pilot / prototype aspects of the innovation teams and project ventures;
Teach students how to become leaders in their roles on their teams;
Source more local, state, regional, national, and global opportunities and resources for teams to present, compete and advance their experiences; Provide additional strategic advice and feedback on team pitches, financial models and budgets, and competitions and help teams prepare for such opportunities;
Expand the network of public and private strategic partnerships with corporations (including
CSR
), non-profits, universities, foundations, incubators, accelerators, think-tanks, etc.
Help teams recruit, interview, and build advisory boards and mentorship boards;
Provide administrative and logistics support, including helping organize learning experiences including speaker series, webinars, field trips, workshops, and/or conferences in Social Innovation (local, statewide, national, global);
Create, teach, advise, mentor and implement more advanced programs and initiatives for student Innovation Fellows in their junior and senior years including potential senior capstone research projects;
Create, maintain and expand a library of educational and promotional content, including website, PR images, videos and new media (potential blog, podcast, videocast).

Minimum Education and Experience
4 years of experience in economics, finance, due diligence, banking, and/or investments;
Experience preparing companies for capital transactions, offerings, M&A, and IPOs;
Presentations to institutional investors on behalf of companies raising capital market funds;
Advisory to C-suite and other executives as part of team;
Business and financial modeling and analysis, market and competition research, organizational structure and governance, and strategic partnerships;
Proficient with Microsoft Excel for creating pro-forma models, budgets, and financial statements;
Mentoring students or junior associates;
Public Speaking and Pitch Presentations;
Experience in marketing, branding and communications (practice and/or academic teaching);
Collaborating with teams nationally or globally;
5-10 years serving on nonprofit boards; familiar with board structures, oversight, strategy, and governing policies;
5-10 years in Entrepreneurship (starting or running a startup or small business);
Experience and/or capabilities in the above-referenced Strategic Scope and Tactical Framework.
